27th December 2009 _ CAN YOU NOT HEAR?

can you not hear _ the silence
shrouding the Gazan despair
it covers the cries of the children
four hundred _ no longer there

can you not hear _ the silence
in the schoolrooms that once were aloud!
reduced to torn pictures still posted on ruins
like the promise of youth disallowed

can you not hear _ the silence
when the water supply is denied
it croaks out a parched cry for justice
and relief from this planned genocide

can you not hear _ the silence
AGAINST THE ACCURSED WALL!
it echoes like wind does round concrete
but those echoes say nothing at all

can you not hear _ the silence
which deafens us with its distress
at the powerful heads of the governments
who say nothing and do even less

can you not hear _ the silence
stretching over the stolen lands
which groans from the weight of the lies that they tell
to whitewash their bloodied hands

can you not hear _ the silence
steel-cold anger in all of our heads
as we stand by the side of the Gazans today
and remember and NEVER FORGET!!
